About My pick score

My pick score is my personal fit score from 0 to 100. It is a judgment, not a formula. Next to it you always see Steam reviews, critic scores, price, crack status and what players like and dislike, so you can judge for yourself.

Scores and notes by Sadegh Kalami.

The taste behind the score

Solo, self-found, isometric action RPG with deep builds, great boss fights and zero pay-to-win.

Creator taste profile

PC 99% (Windows, strong GPU), mobile 1%.

Loved

  • Dungeon Hunter 4 and 5 (mobile)
  • Path of Exile 1
  • Lost Ark (PC)
  • Elden Ring
  • Dark Souls

I like the Diablo vibe.

Played, not loved

  • Baldur's Gate 3. Turn-based, too much talking.
  • Hades. The art and vibe didn't click.

What hooks the creator

Loot plus builds, combat feel, and story or world. All three together.

Lost Ark. Loved: The combat and skills, the raids and big boss fights. Quit because: Pay-to-win upgrade honing, forced group content, and boredom.

Dealbreaker

Pay-to-win. I hate it. It is a dealbreaker. Pay-to-win games never rank above Skip.

Solo or group
Mostly solo. Forced groups are a negative.
Trading
Self-found only. I want to find and craft my own gear.
Camera
Mostly isometric. 3rd person is OK. No 1st person.
Art style
Dark or bright are both fine. Not cartoon or comic.
Combat pace
Everything: fast clearing and slow, heavy boss fights.
Classes
I play every archetype, so build freedom matters.
Build depth
Medium to deep: from Last Epoch up to Path of Exile.
Endgame
Endless grind and finishable campaigns are both fine.
Price model
Free to play with a cosmetics-only shop, or buy once.

What moves the score

The score is a judgment, not a formula. These factors guide it, and each game's one-line reason says what mattered.

Raises the score

Lowers the score

Pay-to-win or pay-to-progress
Drops to Skip (35 or lower), whatever else is good.
1st person
30 or lower.
Turn-based combat
30 or lower.
Cartoon or comic art
Minus 15.
Forced group content
Minus 10 to 20.
Abandoned, unfinished or badly broken on PC
Minus 15 to 30.
Recent player anger in Steam's last 30 days
Minus 3 to 8, and I say why.

The tiers

Every score falls in one tier. A tier can be lower than its score range, never higher. 60 games are ranked.

  1. Top pickUnique
    85+
    Play these first.
  2. Worth a lookRare
    65-84
    Good fit with some trade-offs.
  3. Weak fitMagic
    45-64
Fits only part of the taste.

Helldivers 2 scores 45 but sits in Skip (the creator's call).

  4. SkipNormal
    under 45
    Poor fit or pay-to-win.

Includes Helldivers 2, score 45 (the creator's call).

  5. Already playedSet
    no score
    Already played, so not scored.

Pay-to-win games never rank above Skip. Where a game's tier differs from its score, the row says which game.

Steam reviewsSteam storePositive share of English reviews, all time and in the last 30 days. The word, such as Very Positive, is Steam's own. A failed fetch keeps the old number.
Steam priceSteam storeUS dollars, full price unless a sale is noted. Some games have a price note from the creator, for example a free-to-play date.
CrackWatchercrackwatcher.comCrack status, scene group and DRM or Denuvo info. A row marked as entered by hand was not checked on CrackWatcher.
Metacritic and OpenCriticSteam page, critic sites, web searchCritic scores. Numbers found through a web search are marked approx.
Player sentimentPlayer reviewsWhat players like and dislike is the creator's summary of their reviews. A summary that came partly from a web search says so on the game page.
